To swiftly migrate from BTinternet to Gmail, follow these steps:
1. Prepare BTinternet Account for Migration- Enable IMAP: Make sure IMAP is enabled on your BTinternet account to allow Gmail to access your emails.
- Log in to BTinternet’s webmail.
- Go to Settings > Mail Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Enable IMAP.
- Log in to your Gmail account or create a new one.
- Go to Settings by clicking the gear icon and then select See all settings.
- Click on the Accounts and Import tab.
- Under the Check mail from other accounts section, click Add a mail account.
- Enter your BTinternet email address and password.
- Select Import emails from my other account (POP3).
- Enter the necessary POP3 server settings for BTinternet:
- POP server: pop.btinternet.com
- Port: 995
- Check the box for Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server if you want to keep emails in BTinternet.
- Click Add Account.
- In the Send mail as section, click Add another email address.
- Enter your BTinternet email address and the SMTP settings:
- SMTP server: smtp.btinternet.com
- Port: 465 (or 587)
- Username: Your BTinternet email address
- Password: Your BTinternet account password
- Choose Secured connection using SSL and click Add Account.
- Contacts: Export your BTinternet contacts to a CSV or vCard file and import them into Gmail.
- Calendar: Export your BTinternet calendar to an iCal format and import it into Google Calendar.
- Send test emails to ensure both incoming and outgoing emails are working.
- If everything is set up correctly, you can start using Gmail to manage your BTinternet emails.
- Enable IMAP: Make sure IMAP is enabled on your BTinternet account to allow Gmail to access your emails.
